RECOMMENDED TRAINS

The most convenient train to catch to Udon Thani is Special Express No. 25 which is an overnight sleeper train with both 1st Class and 2nd Class carriages. It also has a dining car. This uses the newer CNR Chinese built carriages and so are clean and comfortable. Click here to read more about the CNR sleeper trains.

The downside about the night trains is that you won’t see the views. And there are some really fantastic views along the Bua Yai Branch Line. If you take Express No. 75 you will ride along the viaducts over Pasak Chonlasit reservoir during the day. The State Railway of Thailand does special “Floating Train Excursion” trains here during the winter months.
