Kiha-183 Excursion Train to Ratchaburi
The State Railway of Thailand are using refurbished Japanese Kiha-183 trains as special excursion trains. With their distinctive elevated cab and a slanted nose, they are proving to be very popular with tourists going on one-day trips around Thailand. This trip is to Ratchaburi Province.
This trip is along the Southern Line to Ratchaburi Railway Station where there will be a coach tour of the province. The one-day trips are advertised for Saturday 4th March and Sunday 5th March 2023. The cost of the ticket is 1,499 Baht for the round trip in the air-conditioned train. This includes breakfast, lunch, snack and beverages, as well as a tour on an air-conditioned bus. The train will leave Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong) at 6:50 a.m. and will return to Bangkok at 8:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale from 8:30 a.m. on Saturday 25th February 2023. The following is the itinerary for the excursion to Ratchaburi. Please note this is subject to change.
6:00 a.m. Passengers register on Platforms 4-5 at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong) and receive a souvenir.
6:50 a.m. The train will depart from Hua Lamphong.
7:10 a.m. The train will arrive at Bang Sue Junction Station to pick up more passengers.
8:59 a.m. The train will stop at Chulalongkorn Bridge Station for passengers to get out and to take pictures of the pre-war bridge. They will be able to see the brand new railway bridge that is now being built alongside it. Passengers will then proceed by air-conditioned coach to Ratchaburi National Museum for a cultural performance.
10:30 a.m. The coach will take the passengers to Wat Khanon in Photharam District. Here they will visit Nang Yai Museum and watch a shadow puppet show. They can also visit the nearby Dan Khanon Market.
12:30 p.m. Eat lunch
1:30 p.m. Depart to a pottery shop to discover how they make and paint the pieces of pottery.
3:30 p.m. Visit Ban Khu Bua Market to shop and also experience the local way of life.
5:00 p.m. Return to Ratchaburi Railway Station.
5:30 p.m. Arrive at Ratchaburi Railway Station. Passengers have enough time to take pictures of the train.
6:00 p.m. Train departs from Ratchaburi
7:47 p.m. Train arrives at Bang Bamru Station (Connection with Red Line)
8:07 p.m. Train arrives at Bang Sue Junction Station
8:30 p.m. Train arrives back at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong).
