Update about the Lopburi Bypass Double Track Project

Update about the Double Track Railway Project: Lopburi – Pak Nam Pho Section

📌 Project Overview

The Lopburi – Pak Nam Pho section is part of the double track railway project in Thailand. The project consists of 145 kilometers of track and 17 stations. It begins at Ban Klab Station in Nong Don District, Saraburi Province, and ends at Pak Nam Pho Station in Muang District, Nakhon Sawan Province. The total construction cost is 25,845 million baht.

📌 Construction Progress

The project is divided into three contracts:

✅ Contract 1: Ban Klab – Khok Kathiam (32 km) – 89.94% complete
✅ Contract 2: Tha Khae – Pak Nam Pho (116 km) – 81.24% complete
✅ Contract 3: Signaling and Telecommunication Systems (145 km) – 38.04% complete

📌 Highlights

✅ The project includes the longest elevated railway in Thailand, spanning 19 kilometers.
✅ The elevated section was built to avoid impacting the Phra Prang Sam Yod and the Phra Kaan Shrine, important historical sites in Lopburi Province.
✅ Lopburi 2 Station is the only elevated station on the project and will serve long-distance and freight trains that do not terminate in Lopburi Province.

📌 Challenges

✅ The construction of the elevated section required adjustments to the design to avoid impacting Highway 366 in the long term.
✅ The COVID-19 pandemic caused a shortage of construction workers.

📌 Benefits

✅ The double track railway will improve transportation efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and shorten travel times.
✅ It will also promote domestic tourism, stimulate the economy, and generate income for local communities.

📌 Project Completion

✅ The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
