44,291,113 passengers used Thailand’s rail transport system in March 2024
The Department of Rail Transport (DRT) announced that a total of 44,291,113 passengers used Thailand’s rail transport system in March 2024.
Of this number, 42,117,250 passengers (95.09%) used the electric trains in Bangkok and its vicinity, which include:
- The Gold Line: 201,668 passengers (0.46%)
- The Red Line: 896,462 passengers (2.02%), including 2,986 passengers who used the free service to connect to the long-distance railway
- The Yellow Line: 1,074,869 passengers (2.43%)
- The Pink Line: 1,468,698 passengers (3.32%)
- The Purple Line: 1,981,468 passengers (4.47%)
- The Airport Rail Link: 2,048,462 passengers (4.62%)
- The MRT Blue Line: 13,042,460 passengers (29.45%)
- The BTS Sukhumvit and Silom Lines: 21,403,163 passengers (48.32%)
The remaining 2,173,863 passengers (4.91%) used the SRT intercity trains.
Note: A “passenger-trip” is defined as a single passenger entering and exiting the system. For example, a passenger who travels from Bang Sue to Phaya Thai on the MRT Blue Line counts as one passenger-trip.
