Sawankhalok Train Schedule Changed to Help Boost Tourism
Effective from 15th March 2024, the Sila At – Sawankhalok – Sila At Local Train (Train No. 405/406) will have a schedule change for Train No. 406 (Sawankhalok – Sila At). The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) announced the adjustment as a strategic move to stimulate the economy and tourism in the Sawankhalok District of Sukhothai Province.
Revised Schedule:
- Depart Sawankhalok: 1:00 p.m.
- Arrive Sila At: 2:05 p.m.
Previous Schedule:
- Departed Sawankhalok: 11:35 a.m.
- Arrived Sila At: 12:45 p.m.
The new departure time will provide tourists with approximately two hours to explore the historic district of Sawankhalok. A former capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom, Sawankhalok boasts rich cultural attractions, including the Sawankhalok Historical Park, Chaliang Temple, and Wat Si Chum.
“We anticipate this change will increase visitor interest in Sawankhalok,” commented a local SRT official. “The extended layover allows ample time to immerse oneself in the area’s history and heritage.”
Local tourism businesses have expressed optimism about the potential economic benefits of the schedule adjustment. The hope is that the extended layover will encourage visitors to spend more time exploring the district, supporting local shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. There are also hotels for every budget if tourists want to extend their stay.
The SRT encourages passengers to enjoy their travels. For further inquiries, please contact the Sila At Railway Station at 055 411 311 or the SRT Call Center at 1690.
